The town in the sky We've waited our whole lives, And now it's time to begin

There was nothing more that she would have liked to be doing than tending to the college's garden and soaking in the sunshine. Even her job making cakes did not seem to measure up the want to have the sun meet her skin. She had to finish a few things in the back before she could take off and head to UCLA so that she could go to her one class for the day and then have the rest of her day to herself.
She had pretty much watched the sun rise as she had been out the door right when the first ray of sunshine was visible. Working early in the bakery just seemed to work better for her as it was a nice thing to wake up and do. She would hop on by Starbucks and pick up her usual drink and then carry it to work which was not too far away. Then of course the smell of the bakery came in to play. The smells of it all were just fantastic, especially when a cake just came fresh out of the oven.
This cake needed to be finished before one and Elena was sure that she would manage to get it done before then. It had been resting from the time Elena had taken it out of the oven. It needed to be cool before she could do any type of decorating on it. If were too hate for anything it would just melt off and make for a long, stressful day for Elena. When it was ready Elena went straight at it. She piped the decoration on like it was nothing. She had been doing it for so long that this was just second nature. And then of course the making of the little decorative flowers. Each petal was made separately and were attached to make a flower one by one. They would get an edible glitter dusting to them and then be placed onto the cake. Then of course came the lettering it was for and then she would be done.
It was cool to think that her cake may not mean much to her but it being really pretty, but for someone else it was going to make them happy. In this instance it was going to be for Emily who was having her thirteenth birthday. She was going to blow the candles out on this cake and make a wish. It was actually kind of a cute idea now that Elena thought about it more. And it was insane how much value this little batch of ingredients would really mean in an hour. Elena sent the cake off with the delivery guy and then she was able to leave for the day. But Elena was going to eat first before she left.
Though the bakery was also a deli Elena did not eat meat. Which is what the deli consisted of at lunch time. Elena was not even sure what possessed them to make it into a deli as well. It probably just brought in extra cash which was always good for a business. Elena took off her apron that was adorned with little designs on it and hung it up where the other aprons hung. She went to a little side two seater table and took out the lunch that she had made the day prior for herself. Elena was always eating healthy and since she had different styles of life it proved hard to make sure none of the ingredients that she did not want were actually not in there. So the safest route would be just to make things herself. As the door jingled to infer that someone just walked in, Elena was looking through her purse to pull out a few things before she had to go to class.

and i breathe disaster, ever after don't pull away from me now [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Lola had a habit of staying up way too late lately and then waking up to find half the day gone. Still groggy she dragged herself into the shower to wake herself up. She had to go to work at 4 today, and it was 1:30 now. She had time to waste she thought as she braided her long blonde tresses into a side braid and she pulled on a pair of boy's athletic shorts that came down to the knee, stolen from Xaiver's drawer and a purple tank top. His shorts were very comfortable and she knew that Xaiver was aware of her borrowing. Obviously he didn't mind, or he would have said something about it a long time ago. Even though her brother and her mother were alike, Xaiver had his good points that Lola could tolerate.
She grabbed her keys and yelled into the house that she was going out, not caring that she was way too loud and her mother would want to know where. Yes, she was going to a bar at 1 in the afternoon. Really, the woman worried too much for her own good. She slammed the door as she went out. She climbed into the car she'd been given on her seventeenth birthday and headed to find somewhere to eat. She'd been to every food establishment in the city, or she liked to think that. She found herself turning into the bakery after a few minutes of maneuvering the lunch rush traffic. Some of the people really didn't know how to drive!
She locked the car and stuffed the keys into the large pocket of her borrowed shorts. She pushed the door open, maybe a little too hard as it swung open. She went up to the counter and ordered a turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich, and a vanilla cupcake for dessert. She didn't bother ordering a drink, she normally didn't get that thirsty during a meal. Plus, she did have a bottle of water in the car.
Once she got her food Lola looked around the place for somewhere to sit and eat it. She didn't like to eat and drive, so she normally opted to dine in. Even though there were other tables she could have sat at, most of the two seaters were taken by either one or two people, and she didn't want to sit by herself at a bigger table. She sat down across from a girl who looked familiar somehow but Lola knew that she had never met her before. She looked nice and was digging inside her purse for something. Lola wasn't shy about meeting new people anyway.
"Hi!" She said smiling at the girl. "I'm Lola Tamblyn. Sorry if I'm invading your personal bubble." She picked up her sandwich and took a bite, not realizing how hungry she actually was until she got food in her mouth. She ate quickly for a few minutes and then forced herself to slow down, and put down the sandwich.

She was just worrying about herself at the moment and looking through her purse for a pen and paper. She also brought out her lunch box. Thinking about what she needed to do for the day she got a little flustered. There seemed like to be so much going on for her. Though it was not much, just at the moment it felt overwhelming a little.
Elena typically liked being busy but there was nothing more that sounded better than just plopping down on her bed in her dorm room. Lately things have been a little hard being so far away from her parents. Growing up in a large, Italian family Elena was always greeted by some type of familiar face. Being here in Los Angeles she did not have that. She was not going home to see her mother cooking. No, she would go home to a dorm room which still lay vacant for another room mate. As funny as some would think Elena did really want to have a room mate. That was the whole college experience to have a room mate and such. But of course she did not want some crazy room mate that was like into stealing stuff. Bleh, there was so much to think about.
Elena jumped a little when the girl came and sat down. Her doe eyes had grown large and she stared at the girl for a second. Immediately her facial expressions changed to happy as she assumed the girl just wanted to hang out with someone. "Hi there, no no you are alright!" Elena said sincerely with a smile. "I am Elena." Elena said introducing herself.
She took her own attention to her lunch and opened up her lunch box. For herself she made a chickpea sandwich for the day alongside some vegetables that she cut up as well. "So do you go to college around here?" Elena asked as she snacked on a red pepper strip. The girl looked to be somewhere around her age so she kind of assumed that she was. Though it may not be the case they would probably be able to talk about something else. There was a lot to talk about when you did not know someone and Elena was glad that someone friendly actually did chose to sit down with her. Once Elena was able to get talking to a person she sometimes could not stop. Elena just craved other human interaction and it was hard at times as Elena could be very particular about situations. It proved to be hard but Elena found ways to get around the uncomfortable areas.

and i breathe disaster, ever after don't pull away from me now [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Lola watched as she seemed to have startled the girl a bit. Whoops. She did that a lot, sometimes she was too forward for her own good. She was about to apologize for intruding and move somewhere else but the the girl smiled and told Lola she was fine sitting there. Lola smiled in relief and swallowed the food still in her mouth.
Immediately Elena asked the college question. Lola was glad, it wasn't a bad place to start. Possibly better than her bringing up that she disliked red peppers, like the one the other girl was currently snacking on. "I'm going to attend in the fall, yeah, at UCLA. Newly graduated from high school." She said pointing to herself and smiling, though it didn't reach her eyes. Thinking about graduation made her sad or angry when she thought about it, since she'd missed her own ceremony. She zoned out for a moment, unconsciously playing with the small key pendant around her neck and then crashed back into reality. She seemed to do that quite a bit lately. Thinking so much she dreamed during the day.
"Do you go somewhere around here?" She asked, referring to a school. She probably did, judging by the pen and paper. Unless she was some sort of writer. She knew some people who wrote a lot, and they seemed a bit desperate to Lola, though that may be just her opinion. She picked up her sandwich again and made herself take civil bites, so she didn't have her mouth full when she wanted to talk. That would make a bad first impression. Lola saved her misbehavior for when she was at home and would annoy her mother with bad manners.
Lola's phone started to buzz in her pocket, next to her keys so it made even more noise than normal. She fished it out and fought to keep her face straight as she saw who the text was from; her mom. Think of the devil and she shall make herself known? Lola thought. She didn't even open the message and put it back inside her pocket, smiling at Elena to try and ease tension. Maybe only Lola felt awkward right now, and Elena was perfectly comfortable.
She started to unwrap her cupcake, eager to eat the dessert. She'd always had a bit of a sweet tooth, though her appetite was diminishing over the last few months. That was why she'd been surprised to discover how hungry she really had been. She ripped off a piece of the frosted top and popped it into her mouth, smiling in satisfaction as she chewed.

Elena confessed. It was true. Even the slightest difference in atmosphere could startle her. It made her seem like she was really uptight but it was nothing of the sorts. That is why she usually liked to be aware of everything around her so that she would not jump when people talked to her and what not. And it was always the times that she let her guard down that she fell victim to the passerby. When that happened she usually tried to find some way to placate the shocked person. She always felt really bad as she did not want to make the person feel bad. It was so easy to catch her in this state.
After greeting her and apologizing for her jumpiness, Elena was always quick to get on to the next subject. She did not like to wander over and over again on her ability to have a heart attack on a dime just because someone comes in the enlarged personal bubble. Figuring since she looked to be about Elena's age she asked about school. School was something big in Elena's life. It was why she was here and not in her home-city of Las Vegas.
"NO WAY!' Elena exclaimed. She tended to be easily excited but it was always exciting to her about other people. "Yeah! I go to UCLA now!" Elena smiled. 'You will like it! It is so great" Elena said in between bites. "Do you know what you want to go to school for?" Elena asked inquisitively. Hearing about other people's schooling was always fascinating. Other people had different passions and it was great to see the spark in there eyes when they talked about something they loved. It was always another thing when they were going to go to school for something they disliked just because it paid a higher salary or something like that.
Elena smiled lightly when she heard the cellular device buzz. Elena laughed a little as something in her pocket made the phone's vibration even more louder. "Don't you hate that?" Elena asked. "Then it feels like everyone is watching you.. not fun" she laughed once more and let her Lola see who it was. Lola did not take long to put the cell phone right back into her pocket. Elena tilted her head some and smiled along with Lola. "Something up?" she asked in a light tone. It was not a tone that sounded like she was fishing around for personal information of Lola's but rather a genuine concern as it seemed the sender gave a distaste to the sendee.
"Are those cupcakes not amazing" Elena said. Elena loved the cupcakes that were made here. Too bad most of them were not vegan. Maybe that was a good thing as Elena probably would not be able to fit out the door from eating so many cupcakes. It was crazy how much a diet change could rule your life. They were not lying when they said that veganism was not just a choice; it was a lifestyle as well. Watching Lola have the cupcake made Elena want one, but she knew that she really should not take more food than she could get. She was already full when she ate the rest of her sandwich and continuing to nibble on the cut vegetables that she had. She almost forgot that she had brought hummus along to. She dipped some carrots into the three red pepper blend. "Want some?" Elena asked pushing the tray of veggies a little closer to Lola. She did not want to make it seem like she would be really offended if she had not, but wanted to put the offer out.
